Mary works part time as the Church Administrator for Christ Our King and, as such, she is responsible for supporting Trevor, preparing the Sunday and special services, preparing the weekly announcement emails, updating the church database, maintaining volunteer schedules and responding to general emails as well as various other duties. She appreciates the richness and depth of the liturgy that Christ Our King offers and is pleased to be able to assist the church using her administrative skills.
She has been married for over 40 years to Stephen, and they have two married sons and three grandchildren. She took early retirement six years ago and has since spent time volunteering for extended periods in Egypt, the UK and Israel. Alongside her work and as part of her retirement, Mary has always valued volunteering and giving back to the community. She has, with her husband, been a foster parent, provided respite care for parents of special needs children, developed and led a church program and a social group for grades 5 & 6, led the Nicky Gumbel Alpha program at her home and church, and led a homegroup for many years. In addition, she has volunteered at various agencies in Calgary which help the unhoused and those experiencing food insecurity, currently as a volunteer with the Calgary Food Bank. Mary also enjoys travelling, walking and biking along the river path, exploring nearby coffee shops and restaurants, and time in the mountains.
